The Memorial’s Designers and Makers

Lucy Churchill is a British sculptor, stone carver, and medallist with more than twenty-five years of professional experience. Trained through apprenticeships with some of the UK’s leading stone-carving workshops, her work can be found on historic buildings, in memorial spaces, and in private collections across Britain. Alongside her sculptural practice, she teaches stone-carving in York. Lucy is widely known to Tudor enthusiasts for her meticulous reconstruction of Anne Boleyn’s 1534 Moost Happi medal, a project praised by historians including Eric Ives, David Starkey, Alison Weir, and Hilary Mantel. For this memorial, Lucy created the medal design, drawing inspiration from Anne Boleyn’s iconic Moost Happi medal.
